Over the last few months, AUTH team actively participated in four conferences to present the research carried out and the achievements accomplished in the framework of the FreeMe project. At the 14^th Panhellenic Conference on Chemical Engineering in Thessaloniki (29-31 May 2024), Professor Konstantinos Triantafyllidis delivered an insightful presentation highlighting the project’s innovative approach to synthesis and characterization of bio-based (sugar derived) epoxy resins. The event provided an excellent platform to showcase the potential of replacing traditional toxic raw materials and effectively captured the audience’s attention.

In Athens, PhD student Zoi-Lina Koutsogianni participated at the Polymers 2024 International Conference (28-31 May 2024), where she presented her research on developing bio-based epoxy resins based on isosorbide. Her presentation emphasized the project’s progress in both the synthesis and crosslinking of the resins. Continuing the dissemination of the FreeMe project’s findings, Zoi-Lina Koutsogianni also participated at the 85^th Prague Meeting on Macromolecules (24-28 June 2024). Her poster presentation described the use of biomass derived itaconic acid for the synthesis of epoxy resins.

Lastly, Professor Konstantinos Triantafyllidis presented AUTH’s research at the 9^th EUChemS Conference in Dublin (7-11 July 2024), further extending the reach of the FreeMe project within the European chemical science community. The conference was a great opportunity for networking with scientists and industry, receiving feedback, and discussing over possible future collaborations.
