Participation of Dr. Antigoni Margellou in 17th Panhellenic Symposium on Catalysis

On 8-10th October 2024, Dr. AntigoniPicture 1 Margellou, Postdoctoral researcher of Professor Triantafyllidis’s group participated in the 17th Panhellenic Symposium on Catalysis, held in Paphos, Cyprus. Dr. Margellou had a poster presentation focusing on the catalytic valorization of plastics wastes towards fuels production. The work is entitled “Catalytic hydrogenolysis of plastic wastes towards sustainable chemical recycling” focused on the chemical upcycling of plastic wastes via catalytic hydrogenolysis, disseminating the Plastic2fuels project (European Union NextGenerationEU, Implementation Body HFRI, code:15847). The main outcome of this work is that LDPE plastic wastes can be effectively converted to crude oil enriched in linear paraffinic hydrocarbons which after isomerization can be utilized as fuels. The yield and the composition of liquid oil is strongly dependent on the reaction conditions and catalyst properties.
This project is carried out within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0, funded by the European Union NextGenerationEU (Implementation Body HFRI), Project: Plastic2fuels, code:15847
